Area guide
Quba Road runs roughly three kilometres south from the district around Al-Masjid an-Nabawi to Masjid Quba, the first mosque in Islam. It is one of Madinah’s most recognisable streets — lined with shops, cafés and the Quba Food Street — and it is the spine of the Darb Al-Sunnah redevelopment, which is converting the route into a landscaped pedestrian corridor between the two mosques.
The Darb Al-Sunnah redevelopment
The Darb Al-Sunnah project follows the path the Prophet ﷺ walked from Quba to his mosque. Sections have already been paved, planted and pedestrianised, with seating, lighting and retail frontages. For property, the effect is twofold: it improves the daily walk to the Haram for residents along the route, and it raises the profile of the surrounding neighbourhoods as a place to live rather than only to pass through.
The neighbourhoods along the road
Either side of Quba Road lie established residential districts — Bani Khidrah, Al Mughaisilah, Qurban and Al Jumuah among them — built at a human scale of three-to-five-storey buildings. Grocery stores, restaurants, barbers, laundries and brand outlets sit within a short walk, and the road carries public transport to the Haram and beyond. Uhud Mountain and Al Baqee are a short drive away.
What buyers should look for here
Because the road is transforming, the details matter: is the building on or immediately off the corridor, does it face a quiet side street or the main road, is there a lift and reception, and how far is the actual walk to the Haram? Newer boutique buildings with modern layouts are relatively scarce compared with the older stock, which is where a developer-led project stands out.
